Autism Seminar
is set for April 1st Wednesday
5:30 till 8:30P.M in the auditorium.
We are looking to ask the Dean to co-sponsor this event
as a kickoff to the new SoE master’s program in special
education. We hope that this will be offered annually every
April to celebrate Autism Awareness month. Dr. Aida will order
$75.00 worth of gummy (message) bracelets and make autism bead
bracelets to sell at the seminar for $3.00 and we will donate
the profits to Dr. Treffert for his
savant project.
·
Literacy Alive! - Jen and Dr. Aida will be preparing the grant proposal before the
Dec. 1st deadline.
We will be doing a Seuss-abration.
Sarah will be contacting the library to reserve the
children’s center for March 7th from 12:30-1:30P.M.
Devin will be talking to the Fond du Lac High School
drama club to try and get some high school students to come and
act out a Dr. Seuss book that day.
Also we are planning to have an art table, coloring
contest, games, adults reading Dr. Seuss, and the children
reading Dr. Seuss to the adults.

We will be doing a chocolate bar
fundraiser. We will
get 50% back, there is no minimum order, and we can send back
any unopened bars.
We will start selling them on February 4th.
We will reserve the breezeway for February 12th
and 13th for selling in time for Valentine’s Day.
Devin is In charge of this fundraiser and will try to get
volunteers from the members. Money from this fundraiser is
earmarked to help members attend the Biennial Convocation in
2010 at Orlando, Fla.
·

Next chapter meeting is scheduled for December 3rd
and we will have a panel discussing Cyber bullying.
Dr. Aida will contact the
technology professors at Marian, and Devin will contact a high
school teacher and liaison officer to speak on this issue.
Dr. Aida will be reserving a room.
·
Spring Initiation _ Some eligible SoE students claim that they did not receive the
postcard invitations. Question: Should we hold a second
initiation of new members in January 28th 2009?
Sarah will be contacting
the qualified students to find out if we have enough numbers.
